A Guilford man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 South in Branford Tuesday morning, according to state police.
Peter Botarelli, 77, lost control of his SUV near Exit 55 just after 10 a.m., police said.
The SUV went off the highway, hit a road sign and then a roadside rock wall, causing the vehicle to roll over. Botarelli was thrown from the vehicle, according to police. He was the only one in the SUV at the time of the crash.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The highway was shut down for about three hours while police investigated the scene.
