A New London man has been arrested in connection with a shoplifting at a CVS Saturday and police said he hit an employee and tried to hide from police on a third-floor deck.
Police responded to the CVS at 817 Bank St. at 3:40 p.m. Saturday and searched the surrounding area, but 26-year-old Dereck Bonaparte, of New London, ran, police said.
Officers found him on the back deck of a third-floor apartment of a nearby residence and located the items stolen from CVS, police said.
Bonaparte was charged with third-degree robbery, interfering with police, third-degree assault, third-degree trespass, sixth-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.
