Darien Students Try for World Record

They want to break record for standing on one leg.

Students at Darien High School are trying to get their names in the record books.

School officials believe they set a new world record for the number of people standing on one leg simultaneously for two minutes straight.

The event, on Wednesday, was part of a sophomore class fundraiser to benefit a child abuse prevention group.

The school said 360 students and others participated in Wednesday’s event, possibly breaking a record set in February by people in Portland, Oregon.

Class adviser Patrick Durkin said they contacted Guinness World Records before the event to ensure they met the requirements, but so far the record has not been confirmed.
