DMV Not Handling Complaints Well: Report

The Department of Motor Vehicles has failed to investigate hundreds of complaints, according to a legislative audit.

The Auditors of Public Accounts say that the DMV has been recording complaints from citizens, police departments and local tax officials as successfully closed, before even investigating the charges, the Republican-American reported.

The findings also show that the department has not been reviewing the more serious allegations to confirm that it had taken the appropriate actions.

The DMV has disputed the findings and is considering a review of a random sample of cases as part of its yearly audit.
