Windsor Animal Control is trying to identify the person who threw a dog from an SUV Monday.
According to a post on the Windsor Animal Shelter page, someone threw a dog from a purple Nissan Rogue on Archer Road by Hayden Station Road early Monday afternoon.
The dog was picked up by Windsor Animal Control and has been named Archie. ACO Brian Davis said Archie is a pitbull-terrier mix between 4 to 5 years old.
"He’s very underweight. He is not a fighting dog. He was never used as a bait dog. There are no scars. He does have a serious skin condition. His nails are way too long," Davis said.
Authorities are trying to identify the person who dumped Archie.
"People really need to exhaust all the possible resources out there before they get to that point. I mean it is cruelty. The neglect is cruelty, leaving the dog on the side of the street is cruelty. So, we are looking for the owner to answer to that," Davis said.
Anyone who recognizes Archie or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Windsor Animal Control 860-688-5273.
Those interested in making donations for Archie can visit the Friends of Windsor Animal Care and Control website. He is not currently available for adoption.
