Expelled Wesleyan Student Arrested for Attending Festival: Cops

An expelled Wesleyan University student was arrested over the weekend, accused of trespassing on campus to attend a festival after being arrested on drug charges connected with several party drug overdoses.

Eric Lonergan, 22, of Washington, D.C., was one of five students arrested in Middletown after a dozen people were hospitalized in late February after taking Molly, the euphoria-inducing stimulant MDMA, police said. http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Six-Wesleyan-Students-Hospitalized-Due-to-Possible-Molly-Overdose-293476211.html

Police said he showed up on campus on Saturday to attend a festival and violated the conditions of a no trespassing order that was issued.

Lonergan, who was studying neuroscience at Wesleyan, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and 16 counts of illegally obtaining or supplying drugs. http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Neuroscience-Students-Charged-in-Wesleyan-OD-Case-294062591.html

Last week, school officials said two students were expelled, but did not say which two.

However, the arraignment report on Lonergan’s arrest over the weekend said he was recently expelled.

He was charged with first-degree criminal trespass, held on $5,000 bond and is due in court on Monday.
