Heavy Snow Leads to Thousands of Power Outages

Heavy, wet snow caused power outages throughout Connecticut, totalling more than 135,000 as of Thursday morning.

The heavier type of snow can pull down trees and power lines, leading to outages.

As of 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Eversource is reporting more than 133,000 outages. United Illuminating is reporting 12,000 outages.

Norwich Public Utilities had approximately 850 customers without power as of 9:45 p.m. Power has been restored to all but 13 customers as of 6:45 a.m.

If your power is out, Eversource customers can call (800) 286-2000 and United Illuminating customers can call (855) 784-3637.
