A 65-year-old Waterbury man was killed in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 691 eastbound in Cheshire early Monday evening.
Police said traffic was congested just before 6 p.m. when a 51-year-old New Haven man hit the car driven by Eugene Tourangeau, of Waterbury, sending him into the car driven by a 51-year-old Hamden woman.
Tourangeau was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hamden woman was transported to the Hospital of Saint Raphael and the New Haven man was transported to Midstate Hospital.
I-691 was closed in that direction between exits 3 and 4 for approximately four hours.
Police are investigating and no charges have been filed.
