Man Punched, Choked and Threatened to Kill Woman in South Windsor Home: Police

Police arrested a South Windsor man who is under a protective order and threatening to kill a woman as he punched and choked her in his home, police said.

Timothy McCarthy, 40, of Dart Hill Road, is facing multiple charges in the domestic violence incident. Police responded on April 9 to a domestic dispute at his home on that street.

"Officers learned that a male had repeatedly punched and choked a woman in the home, telling her that he was going to kill her," police said in a news release.

McCarthy was under a protective order not to contact the victim at the time of the attack, police said.

Police said he refused to cooperate with officers and was combative.

McCarthy was charged with criminal violation of a protective order, breach of peace, threatening, second-degree strangulation and failure to submit to fingerprinting.

McCarthy was held in custody in lieu of a $15,000 bond and appeared in Manchester Superior Court on April 10.
