Police investigate stabbing, overdose in New Haven

NBC Connecticut

A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in New Haven Thursday night, according to police.

The victim approached a fire crew on Howard Avenue that had been dispatched to the area for a woman who was overdosing.

The man was suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

Both the stabbing victim and the woman who was overdosing were taken to the hospital. The woman later died, police said.

According to police, the stabbing victim could not give them any information about the person who stabbed him.

Detectives investigated along Howard Avenue and found a crime scene there at the intersection with First Street. They interviewed witnesses who told them there had been a large fight before the stabbing and the overdose.

Police are trying to determine if the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or the department's anonymous tip line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
