Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Arrigoni Bridge Turns Himself In

A 36-year-old Middletown man suspected in a fatal hit-and-run crash on the Arrigoni Bridge in November has turned himself in.

Portland police have arrested 36-year-old Khavar McDonald, of Middletown, in connection with the crash on the bridge on Nov. 4 that killed Daquan Moore, a 22-year-old father of two from Middletown who was on a scooter when he was struck.

Police said a white Audi hit the back of Moore’s scooter and kept going.

McDonald was arrested this morning after turning himself in at the Portland Police Department, police said.

He has been charged with reckless driving; manslaughter in the second degree; evading responsibility in operation of a motor vehicle, causing death; failure to maintain minimum insurance; operating an unregistered motor vehicle; and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

He was released on a court-set $100,000 non-surety bond and is due in court in Middletown today.
