A massive tree limb took down live wires and fell onto a parked fire truck on Middle Drive in East Hartford on Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to a call about downed wires around 2:45 a.m. when they saw fire in the attic of a nearby house on fire.
As they were leaving the house after extinguishing the fire, they heard a loud crash from the tree branch landing on the fire truck.
“They were coming out the front door and they just kind of hightailed it to the driveway until they realized exactly what had happened,” Al Dodd, the deputy chief of the East Hartford Fire Department, said.
No one was in the truck when the branch fell and no firefighters were injured. They were able to drive the truck away, but the vehicle will need to be repaired.
