Two people jumped from a burning building in Bridgeport on Tuesday morning, three have been taken to the hospital and a pet dog died in the blaze.

Fire broke out at 17 Rockridge Circle in Bridgeport at 11:11 a.m.

Residents of the first unit were on the second floor when the fire began and jumped.

One man was wearing boxers and his feet were bare when he escaped the burning building into the frigid air.

After jumping out, he convinced his friend’s mother to jump from the building as well.

The woman escaped as well, but struck an air conditioning unit. A neighbor caught her and covered her with a coat until she was taken to the hospital.

Moments after the woman moved, the air conditioning unit fell onto the spot where the woman had been, witnesses said.

The woman, a breast cancer survivor, was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

The man who jumped before her was being evaluated after hurting his ankle.

The family lost everything, the woman’s son said, including their Chihuahua named Princess.

Another neighbor was taken away from the scene on a stretcher.

By the time the fire was extinguished just after noon, three homes were damaged and more suffered smoke damage.
