What can red, white and blue do for you?  Send us some green.

The White House released a statement on Wednesday that highlights what President Obama and the government plan on doing for Connecticut if their economic stimulus package passes.

Plans for the Nutmeg state include the creation of 43,700 jobs over the next two years, and tax cuts of up to $1,000 for 1.35 million workers. Among other initiatives mapped out for CT taxpayers:

  • 30,000 families would be eligible for a $2,500 partially refundable tax credit for 4 years of college.
  • 278,000 workers would receive $100 extra per month in unemployment insurance benefits, and extended unemployment benefits to an additional 45,000 laid-off workers.
  • Funding would be provided for 80 schools to update labs, classrooms and libraries.
