A woman who police said fled during an attempted shoplifting in Hamden hit a car with a mother and her 4-year-old child inside, according to police.
The attempted larceny happened at Stop and Shop at 1245 Dixwell Ave., on Nov. 20, according to police.
Officers responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m. and learned that a woman in her late 20s left the store without paying for $428.93 worth of merchandise, according to a news release from police.
When store security approached her, the woman left the carriage with stolen items behind, got into a maroon Subaru Impreza and fled, hitting hit two cars.
One of those cars was occupied by a mother and her 4 year-old child. No injuries were reported.
