A North Carolina woman was on her way to work Thursday morning when she saw the man accused of gunning down nine people Wednesday at an iconic African-American church in South Carolina — and her phone call led to his arrest, NBC News reported. While on her way to work at Frady's Florist around 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Debbie Dills spotted the black car being driven by alleged gunman Dylann Roof and called a friend, who then notified police, reported NBC affiliate WCNC in Charlotte. "I paid close attention to the pictures on TV, but I thought, 'No. It can't be him,'" Dills, of Gastonia, N.C., told the station. "I noticed the car. And I noticed the boy's haircut." Dills followed the black car along Highway 74, and called a man who called police, leading to Roof's arrest, the station reported. Roof has a troubled past — he was previously jailed on a drug charge in March — and his childhood friend told NBC News that Roof recently complained about "blacks taking over the world." Roof was booked into the Charleston County Detention Center Thursday evening.
