US Agencies Widen Probe Into News Corp

U.S. authorities have widened an investigation into News Corp over phone hacking allegations. The FBI found "no hard evidence" that journalists at British tabloid News of the World, or any other of Rupert Murdoch's publications, hacked into the phones of 9/11 victims' or relatives' phones, The Wall Street Journal reported. But now prosecutors and lawmakers are revisiting past allegations of misconduct, including a lawsuit filed against News Corp by Floorgraphics, a supermarket-coupon and advertising agency who accused its Murdoch-owned competitor of hacking into its website in 2003 and 2004. The Wall Street Journal (a Murdoch newspaper) reports that the lawsuit was settled in 2009 when the media empire bought out Floorgraphics for $29.5 million.
