Jersey Fouls Extra: Solving mystery of the Florida Panthers gown

Jersey Fouls is our ongoing exploration of the rules and etiquette for proper hockey jersey creation and exhibition. If you spot what you think may be a foul in your arena, e-mail a photo to us at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com for inclusion in future installments.

Please recall a previous edition of Jersey Fouls in which we featured Florida Panthers formal wear that was given a strong PASS by the readership.

Well, meet Kerry D., standing here with a gentleman whose name we didn't catch. That post featuring her now-famous dress was forwarded to her by a friend, and she was "surprised to see my lower half appear on the screen."

Kerry wanted to pass along this photo of both of her halves, along with the story behind this rather unique bit of puckhead fashion pride. Turns out she actually made this ensemble herself. From Kerry, via email:

"Unfortunately, the night of my law school dance happened to fall on the night of a Panther game, and obviously if I was going to miss the game I had to at least represent my team and make myself a Florida Panthers dress!  Say what you want, but I love all my teams and always wear jerseys and such on game days. I even had my pinstriped Marlins prom dress in high school.

"I'm not a big fan of formal events or dressing up in general, so I figure if I have to go, I might as well wear something cool that I like. Since I had to miss that Saturday night game, I figured it would be fun to wear Panthers stuff.  I just wanted to make a dress that definitely screamed 'Panthers fanatic' while not looking too tacky or insane :-).  It only took a couple days, but it came out pretty cool and now my friend's little sister is going to wear it to her prom! We're just huge hockey fans down here, contrary to what many people think about Floridians!"

And there you go. Speaking for the brotherhood here, we're pretty sure any female puckhead that is so distraught about missing a game that she sews together a dress to support the team is a female puckhead for whom we have both massive respect and beer money. Despite her admission about the Marlins prom dress.

Thanks for the note, Kerry. If the Panthers miraculously make the playoffs and (furthering the miracle) win the Cup, we at Puck Daddy demand that Cory Stillman accept the Chalice from Mr. Bettman while wearing this Panthers dress. Or that Mr. Bettman walks out wearing it himself. One of the two.
