UConn guard Bria Hartley opened the overtime scoring with a three-pointer, but UConn struggled in the extra time, allowing the Irish to build a 10-point lead.
A layup in the final seconds by UConn cut the lead to single digits, but it was Notre Dame that was able to celebrate.
The Irish, who ended UConn's title run in the Final Four last year, beat UConn three out of four meetings this season.
