Cedar Mountain Subdivision Rejected

The Inlands Wetlands commission in Newington voted 4-1 to deny a controversial proposal by Toll Brothers to build a subdivision on Cedar Mountain.

The public hearing held on Tuesday drew hundreds of residents from Newington and Wethersfield who opposed the plan.

Toll Brothers initially proposed building 71 four-bedroom houses on a 73-acre site; however town officials said the project would affect the wetlands and water quality.

Toll Brothers can appeal the decision in court or rework the plan to present to the commission again.
