    A police cruiser blocks off Mansfield Street in New Haven after a gas main ruptured on Thursday morning. Several buildings in the area were evacuated due to the leak.

    A construction crew hit a high-pressured gas line and ruptured it in the area of Mansfield Street and Hillside Place in New Haven, according to the New Haven Fire Department.

    Crews evacuated buildings on Prospect and Mansfield streets.

    The gas leak has been stopped, according to the fire department.
