Health Network Places Visitor Restrictions For Flu Safety

The Eastern Connecticut Health Network is implementing visitor restrictions at several of their institutions to protect people from the seasonal flu.

The restrictions are in Manchester Memorial Hospital, Rockville General Hospital and Woodlake at Tolland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center have already begun to protect patients, residents, visitors and employees from the flu season.

Anyone 18 or younger will be restricted from certain areas of the hospital/facility unless being treated as a patient. This includes siblings and family members. ECHN also says people showing any signs of being sick, even if it's allergy-related, should not visit.

"ECHN is committed to ensuring the safety of our patients, visitors and staff during flu season and especially during this unusual flu season," says Deborah Parker, Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services & Chief Clinical Officer. "We recognize that these temporary changes to our visitor policies may be inconvenient and disappointing to some, but they are in the best interest of everyone."

The restrictions may change as the spread of the season flu continues. Anyone planning on visiting either hospital or Woodlake at Tolland can find more information on ECHN's website at www.echn.org.
