John Mayer Donates $15K to Fairfield County

The singer made a donation to help those living with HIV and AIDS

Grammy-award-winning singer/songwriter John Mayer donated $15,000 in a grant that will go towards helping residents living with HIV/AIDS in Fairfield County.

Through his “Back To You Fund,” Mayer, a Fairfield native, made the donation to Family Centers for its Stamford CARES program.

The nonprofit organization offers counseling and services to help children and adults living with HIV/AIDS lead healthier and productive lives.

The donor-advised fund based in Norwalk was established in 2003 and is a part of the Fairfield County Community Foundation.

The grant came at a critical time when funds were being cut for Fairfield County’s HIV/AIDS initiatives, according to Bob Arnold, president of Family Centers.

“With fewer state and federal dollars being allocated to HIV/AIDS education and support, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to provide our clients with services they desperately need,” Arnold said.

Mayer created the “Back To You Fund" so he could give back a portion of the proceeds he makes from each show performance to various local charities.
