Man Sentenced to 56 Years for Murder of Norwich Man

The man accused of killing a 28-year-old Norwich man has been sentenced to 56 years in jail for the murder.

Dequan McKethan, 34, of Norwich, was found guilty with the murder of Darius Bishop in September on the third anniversary of the murder, according to the Norwich Bulletin.

Bishop’s body was found at a recreation field at the Charles L. Long Sports Complex in Bozrah around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

He died from what appeared to be a single .22-caliber gunshot wound to the head, police said.

McKethan was also sentenced to five years for possession of narcotics and five years for carrying a pistol without a permit, according to the New London Superior Court.
