Connecticut waters are a little drier after police say they busted four people accused of drunken boating.

The state Department of Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation made two arrests on the lower Connecticut River in Old Saybrook and two on Candlewood Lake during the annual fireworks display.

Police arrested Carmelo Longo, 29, of Bristol, and Ronald Swaney, 42, of Moodus, on the Connecticut River and charged them with boating under the influence.

Both were released on promises to appear in Middletown Superior Court on July 8.

DEP police patrolled Candlewood Lake on Saturday night and arrested William H. Johnson Jr., 52, of New Fairfield, and Joseph W. Swindell Jr., 62, of New Milford on BUI charges.

They were released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 13.

Officials also issued nine citations for failure to carry a life jacket and speed zone and noise violations.
