A member of Hi-Five, a 1990s R&B group, was shot five times outside a New Haven club last weekend.

Treston Irby, 36, of Bridgeport and his friend, Joshua Takacs, were on the way back from another club in Hartford and decided  at the last minute to go to Everybodeez, Takacs, told the New Haven Register.

Hi-Five's debut album in 1990 went multiplatinum with hits including "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)."

Irby joined the band for its second album in 1992.

Irby appears to have been an innocent bystander, police said. Four different shootings over the weekend injured six people, including three at the nightclub.

Irby is in stable condition at the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
