A man was injured in a drive-by shooting on Vernon Street in New Haven Monday morning, according to New Haven police.
Police responded around 8:40 a.m. to reports of gunfire on Vernon Street near Congress Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing a man limping away from the scene.
A short time later, police were notified that a gunshot wound victim had walked in to the emergency room at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The victim was shot in the leg, according to police. It appears the victim was shot by someone driving by in a car on Vernon Street. No description of the suspect or the vehicle were immediately available.
