Water Department Employee Impostor Burglarizes House

A man posed as a Town of Manchester Water Department worker to get into a local home and then an accomplice stole money from the victim’s purse, according to police.

Manchester Police said the man went to a residence on Kensington Street and claimed he needed to check the water pressure in the basement.

While the victim and impost er were in the basement, another person went into the house and stole money from the purse.

Police are looking for a man between 35 and 40 years old, who is around 5-9 and had a scruffy goatee, multi-layered button down jacket and jeans.

Police are reminding residents that town of Manchester employees will have proper identification stating who they are and said official employees would also normally be driving marked town vehicles.

If you have any question about who is showing up at your door, homeowners are encouraged not to let them into your house until you can contact the agency in question to inquire about the employee.
