Students at a Bristol elementary school were wearing Patriots colors on Wednesday as a tribute to a Super Bowl-bound alumnus.

Patriots’ tight end and Bristol native Aaron Hernandez attended South Side School earlier in his career, while playing for the Bristol Midget Football Bulldogs.

Hernandez’ mother, Terri, is the school’s secretary.

Wednesday, the school hosted a pep rally with current Bulldogs’ players, both in support of Hernandez and as a send-off to his mother, who is leaving to watch the game in Indianapolis.

The school has encouraged the students to wear Patriots’ team colors to the event.
