Emergency Bridge Repairs Cause Massive I-84 Jam

Expect delays on I-84 East in Hartford.

Emergency bridge repairs in downtown Hartford are causing a huge traffic jam on Interstate 84 eastbound, Connecticut officials said.

The issue is joints that are being repaired on an eastbound bridge of the highway between exits 48 and 49. The three left lanes are closed, according to the Department of Transportation.

Work is not expected to be done until late Thursday afternoon, so officials are advising drivers to find a different route at rush hour.

This will surely cause a headache for people as they are heading home from work. More than 172,000 cars and trucks travel on that part of I-84 every day.
