Feds to Investigate Middletown “Scream Rooms”

US Department of Education will launch an independent investigation.

The controversy over the so called “scream rooms" in Middletown schools is getting some attention from the federal government.

The U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights will look into whether Farm Hill Elementary discriminated against students with disabilities or denied them a "free appropriate education," the Hartford Courant reports.

The controversy began earlier this month when a group of parents complained about the school using co called "scream rooms" to help calm down unruly students, most of whom had special needs.
