Hartford police are investigating a report of an abduction attempt.
A girl told police that a man in a green SUV approached her as she was walking toward Hartford Public High School on Tuesday morning to go to summer school.
The man offered to take her to the mall and buy her anything she wanted, police said.
When the girl refused, the man got out of the van and forced her into it, she said.
The girl was able to escape.
Police are reviewing surveillance video from the area. The man is in his 20s and has short black hair, the girl told police.
