Locked, Unlocked Cars Burglarized at UConn

UConn police are stepping up patrols around campus following a number of car burglaries targeted both locked and unlocked vehicles.

According to police, seven car burglaries have been reported since the last week in October, most of which occurred in parking lots near Alumni Drive, Calhoun Way and Hillside Road. Police said the windows of locked cars have been broken, and thieves have stolen stereos, speakers and wallets. It’s not clear exactly how many cars have been targeted.

Police said the burglaries happened during the day and at night.

Both uniformed and plainclothes officers have increased patrols in the area.
