Man Accuses of Shooting Pizza Delivery Driver in East Haven

East Haven police have arrested a man who is accused of shooting a pizza delivery driver last night. 

Police responded to Forbes Place at 10:15 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls and found two men on the ground, fighting. 

One of the men was the victim and yelled to officers that he had been shot in the leg, police said. 

Police seized the gun they found on the ground near 38-year-old Shawn Baker and said they also found a black ski mask and white latex gloves near him. 

The victim, a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza, said after he made a delivery, Baker was wearing a ski mask, approached him and demanded money, police said. 

The driver said he complied with Baker’s demands, but began fighting with him when Baker demanded his vehicle too, police said. 

As they were fighting, Baker shot the victim in the left leg and tried to shoot him again, but the gun jammed, the victim told police. 

Baker was charged with assault in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the second degree, criminal attempt to commit carjacking, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal possession of a pistol. 

He was held on a $250,000 bond.
