Mother & Daughter Hurt in Norwalk Blaze

The women were unconscious when firefighters got into the apartment.

A mother in her 70s and her daughter, who is in her 50s, were injured in a fire in Norwalk on Tuesday morning.

Norwalk firefighters responded to an apartment at 45 Maple St., in the Sheffield Ridge Condominium Complex, at 4:19 a.m., forced their way into the unit on fire and found two women who were unconscious.

They brought them to the lobby, where paramedics responded. Officials said the women were in serious condition.

Twenty-eight firefighters responded to the blaze.

The other tenants were able to re-enter the building by 5:30 a.m.

Fire Inspector Kirk McDonald is investigating, along with the state fire marshal’s office because of the seriousness of the injuries.
