New Haven Federal Building Evacuated

The federal building in downtown New Haven was evacuated because of a potentially suspicious package.

The federal building in downtown New Haven was evacuated on Wednesday morning because of a potentially suspicious package, but it was harmless.

The federal building is at 150 Court St.

Brian Taylor, chief U.S. Marshal, said the Robert N. Giaimo federal building at 150 Court Street was evacuated Wednesday morning in response to a suspicious package at the front door.

No one was injured and occupants were let back in the building.

Taylor said the building's tenants include the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security Administration.
