Police Arrest Suspect in Shelton Assault

The victim will need plastic surgery after severe head and face injuries, police said.

A Shelton man has been arrested, accused of beating a 32-year-old man so badly on St. Patrick’s Day that the victim will need plastic surgery.

Shortly after midnight on St. Patrick’s Day, passersby found a man at Coram Avenue and Kneen Street. He was unconscious and bleeding heavily from the face and head, police said.

The victim was brought to Bridgeport Hospital, where he remained in critical condition for two days.

Police said the victim suffered severe head and facial injuries and will require plastic surgery to correct.

After several interviews, police arrested Daniel Zeleznik, 23, on March 24, at his house on a warrant.

He was charged with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree.

Zeleznik posted a $100,000 bond and is due in Derby Superior Court on April 9.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information about the assault to call Shelton Police at 203-924-1544.
