Route 186 Southbound Closed in Somers After Car Hits Pole

The southbound side of Route 186 is closed in Somers after a car struck a utility pole late Monday night.

The southbound side of Route 186 is shut down between Brace and George Wood roads. The road was initially closed in both directions, but the northbound side has reopened and traffic is able to get by on that side.

An alert from the State Department of Transportation says the crash was reported at 11:44 p.m. on Monday. The closure is expected to last into the morning commute, causing delays on the road, a main artery to get through town.

Drivers can take Shaker or Four Bridges Road as a detour.

No one was injured in the crash and Eversource responded to repair the damage.
