Suspect in Puerto Rican Day Parade Assault Arrested

Luis Quintana, 20, of Vernon, was arrested.

The Hartford shooting task force has arrested a suspect in a serious assault with a firearm during the Puerto Rican Day Parade on June 6, 2010.

On Feb. 29, the Hartford Shooting Task Force obtained arrest warrants for two suspects in what police call a “mutual combat gun fight” at 191 Russ St. at 11:53 a.m. on that day.

Northwest Conditions Officers apprehended Luis Quintana, 20, of Vernon, at South Marshall Street and Farmington Avenue on Tuesday. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He is in custody on $100,000 bond and due in Hartford Superior Court date of March 21. Police are still looking for the other person.

City officials said the Hartford Shooting Task Force has reduced shootings in the city by 20 percent over a six month period.
