What to Do on Memorial Day Weekend in Connecticut

Memorial Day is on its way. If you're looking for events going on, look no further. Here is a list of some events and parades that you and your family can enjoy during the holiday weekend. 

Events:

May 26

Revolutionary War Encampment - The Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum in Wethersfield is beginning the Memorial Day weekend with Revolutionary War Encampment between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Interact with the 5th Connecticut Regiment in full colonial dress while enjoying demonstrations of 18th century reenactments. Admission to the encampment is free.

Veterans Walk of Honor Dedication - The West Haven Veterans Council is  holding a Veterans Walk of Honor. This event takes place at Bradley Point Park starting at 5 p.m.

Connecticut Science Center - Active, reserved and retired military get free admission on May 26 and 27.  Admission for family members of the military is half-price. Bring proof of service.

May 27

Connecticut House Music Festival Head to Bushnell Park in Hartford between the hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with DJs from around Connecticut and surrounding areas. You can find the full list of musical performers here

Lady Katharine Cruises Brunch Cruise - Set sail during the holiday weekend and enjoy a buffet and live entertainment as you take in the views of the water. This cruise leaves out of Harbor Park Landing in Middletown. It goes from noon to 2 p.m. You can visit their website for more information or to book your trip. 

May 28

Decoration Day - Mystic Seaport will be paying tribute to the fallen Civil War soldiers during their annual Decoration Day ceremony. The event starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m. and features a memorial for local Civil War soldiers, a procession and an afternoon music performance from the fife and drum contingent.  More information can be found on the Mystic Seaport website.

Meriden Memorial Mile - Held in the rain or the sunshine, the Meriden Memorial Mile is a certified one-mile course to raise funds for Veterans. The money raised will go toward three local nonprofits serving veterans. Registration before May 25 is $20, or you can register the day of for $30. May 26

Wethersfield Memorial Day Parade
Time: 9 a.m.
Where: State Street

May 27

The Town of Orange Memorial Day Parade 
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Where: High Plains Community Center Fairgrounds. 

Rocky Hill 2018 Memorial Day Parade
Time: 2 p.m.
Where: Starts on Chapin Avenue and there is a ceremony at the center green at 3 p.m.

May 28

Fairfield Memorial Day Parade
Time: 10 a.m.
Where: East from South Pine Creek Road

West Haven Memorial Day Parade
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Where: Campbell Avenue
