Dunkin' Donuts Location at Dunkin' Donuts Park is a Popular Option for DD Regulars

It's one of the most unique Dunkin' Donuts locations in the area.  It's the Dunkin' Donuts franchise at Dunkin' Donuts Park, the Hartford Yard Goats stadium on the edge of downtown Hartford.

The location not only provides coffee and donuts for customers, but it also stocks up the park's concession stands with donuts for the DD BLT and the famous Chicken and Munchkin' Skewers.

"When we first opened, it was a mad house in here," said Jennifer Marquez from Great American Donuts.  "But now they got a good rhythm and we're good."

There's a lot of pressure in operating a store in a ballpark named after the brand.  But there was also a lot of interest from prospective employees who wanted to work at the park.

"Every time there is a callout, everyone around wants to work here because it's fun, and it's different, and it's exciting," Marquez said.

One of those team members who wanted to work there since before the home opener is Talia Santiago.

"Why would you not want to work at the Yard Goats stadium," Santiago said.  "Look how pretty it is in here.  It's a lot of fun.  I like working here.  If I got to choose where to work between all the stores, i'd stay here."

That's not to say that it's easy to work at the ballpark location.

"It's really super busy," Santiago said.  "It's nonstop."

This location can serve up to two-thousand Munchkins a day, depending on the weather.  The popular items at the store really are influenced by the temperatures.

"[When we first opened], it was cold," Marquez said.  "There were a lot of hot drinks.  Our hot chocolate machine couldn't keep up.  It was a lot of hot coffee and hot chocolate going out, but now it's switched.  Now, it's a lot of iced coffee going out."

The most popular drinks so far this summer are the iced coffee and the frozen coffee.  But there will always be interest in those sweet treats.

"The donuts are a hot commodity because of all the kids," Marquez said.

The employees at this Dunkin' Donuts will often see regular customers from other downtown locations.

"They do get excited when they see some of their regular customers come in," said Marquez.  "The [team members] already know their order.  They get their favorite coffee.  They get their favorite donuts."

When things quiet down later during each game, the employees get a chance to watch some baseball.

"It’s a really great place to work," Santiago said.
