Several streets are closed following a gas leak in New Haven.
Police say the Regional Water Authority Co. accidentally ruptured a gas line at 10:00 a.m. while working at the intersection of Highland Street and Edgehill Road in Prospect Hill.
Firefighters say the line is a low-pressure line.
Numerous streets have been closed and traffic is being diverted around those closures. The streets are expected to remain closed until the leak is completely sealed.
Men working on a nearby house were evacuated as a precaution, no other homes were evacuated, according to the New Haven Register.
Foote School is located near the gas leak -- the school has been notified of the hazardous condition.
