Knife-Wielding Restaurant Employee Arrested After Demanding to Work: Police

An employee of a Boston Market in Milford was arrested after showing up at work with a knife on the Fourth of July and demanding to work, according to police.

Officers responded to the Boston Market at 1460 Boston Post Road to investigate a report of a man waiving a knife inside the building and arrested an employee, Harold Smith, 44, of New Haven.

Police said he wasn’t scheduled to work that day, but showed up with the knife and demanded to be able to work.

Smith was charged with second-degree breach of peace, reckless endangerment, interrupting an emergency call and criminal trespass.

He was released on a promise to appear and is due in court on Aug. 2.

It’s not clear from online court records if he has an attorney.
