Friend Says Woman Killed in New Haven Hit-and-Run Was Pregnant

Police are looking for the driver, who might have been in a red 2002 to 2006 Toyota Camry with front-end damage.

Police are searching for the driver who fled after hitting and killing a woman in New Haven early Thursday morning and a friend of the victim said she was four months pregnant.

Police said they are trying to identify the woman who was hit near 23 Woolsey St. around 1 a.m. They said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Christina Montague said the victim was a close friend.

“She’s just a great person. Taken so soon. It’s just a shock to everyone. Nobody really understands what happened.” Montague said.

The driver who fled might have been driving a red 2002 to 2006 Toyota Camry with front-end damage.

New Haven Police are investigating and said they will be meeting with the accident reconstruction team later today.
