New Haven Police Search for Suspect Who Barricaded Inside Home

Police are calling the situation an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the public.

New Haven police responded to Concord Street for what they describe as a “violent barricaded subject,” after what started as a domestic incident Friday afternoon.

Police said the situation began just after 4 p.m. when officers were called to a domestic incident involving some kind of physical violence. During that situation, a woman was able to escape the home and called for police. She is safe and unharmed.

Police are calling the situation an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the public.

A hostage negotiation teamtried to make contact with the suspect, but around 10 p.m. police cleared the scene without locating the suspect.

The road was blocked off near the area of Burr Street and Townsend Avenue and Concord and Elmer streets, for several hours and people were advised to stay in their homes during the investigation.
