A New London man is accused of smashing a bottle over another man’s head during a robbery Wednesday night.
New London Police said they responded to a reported assault near 88 Broad Street around 8:50 p.m. The victim reported that he’d been hit over the head with a bottle then robbed of his cellphone. The victim chased after the suspect and was able to get his phone back.
The victim was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police located the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Daniel Rivera, nearby and took him into custody. He was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree robbery and held on a 10,000 bond.
