Man Hit Girlfriend's Ex With a Car in New Haven: Police

Police said the victim is in critical condition.

A man is accused of hitting his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend with a car in New Haven on Tuesday morning and critically injuring the man.

Police said an officer on patrol came upon a 28-year-old man with serious injuries who was lying in the street on Whalley Avenue at Sherman Avenue around 3:22 a.m. and emergency medical assistance was called in.

Police said they learned there had been a fight involving several people including a woman, a man described as a new boyfriend and another man described as a former boyfriend.

During the fight, which started in the parking lot of a business on Whalley Avenue, the new boyfriend hit the other man with a vehicle and fled the scene, according to police.

The man who was hit was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and no arrest has been made.
