Sox, Yankees Rivalry to Kick Off Season

Mark your calendars’ baseball fans. The 2010 season kicks off on April 4 with the defending champion New York Yankees renewing their rivalry at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox

If you are lucky enough to be there, bundle up. The game starts at 8 p.m. and going by recent trends, the start of April can be a tad chilly when the sun goes down.

ESPN decided to move the game from Monday for their season premier of Sunday Night Baseball. Nationally, the game will be broadcast on ESPN2 but locally on NESN and the YES Network.

This will be the second time in recent years the two teams face each other to start a season with one of them being defending champs. In 2005, the Sox were in the House that Ruth Built to start that campaign.

This is the fifth time in six years that the defending champs have started the season on the ESPN Sunday night national broadcast.

Since Connecticut is split over allegiance to the Sox and Yankees, it's bound to be a very popular day for baseball here.
