Brides Still Trying to Track Down Wedding Dresses After Popular Bridal Store Closes

Dozens of brides are scrambling to try and track down their missing wedding dresses after Alfred Angelo suddenly closed its stores Thursday.

"I put so much into this wedding," Lila Selwyn said.

For Selwyn her October wedding is not just the day she's tying the knot, its a reunion with her husband to be who has been stationed in Japan the last two years.

"We had to give up so much already because he's away and because of our budget," Selwyn said.

Something will be missing during the nuptials though, her dream wedding dress from Alfred Angelo.

"I completely lost it, I had to call my mom and my aunt because I didn't know what to do," Selwyn said.

Selwyn is one of dozens of brides now without a dress after the store unexpectedly closed down Thursday.

The bride to be rushed to the Manchester location only to find other brides living the same nightmare.

"I got there and it was like a madhouse there was just a long line there A lot of people tearing up a lot of people upset," Selwyn said.

While the store gave her a similar sample dress, she's not sure the alterations will be ready by her wedding date.

"I know it's out there it's just a matter of finding it," Tamara Cintron said.

Cintron's August wedding date is quickly approaching, she was finally able to track down her missing dress Friday after multiple calls to her West Hartford seamstress but her bridesmaids dresses are still missing in action.

"I don't know where to go because when I call the numbers the mailboxes are full or they don't exist anymore," Cintron said.

While Selwyn is devastated over her dress she says the day will go on and what it's really all about.

"If the dress doesn't work out fine that will be a bummer but at the same time it's going to be my chance to see my husband after two years and that means everything to me," Selwyn said.

David's Bridal, a rival bridal chain, offered brides a light at the end of the altar: a special discount to bride's affected by the closures.
