Enfield

All Enfield Public Schools and offices, the Stowe Early Learning Center, parochial schools, Head Start and ERfC School Age Centers are closed on Monday due to transportation and COVID-19 related issues.

All after school activities and Enfield Adult Education Classes are also canceled.

There is no out-of-town buses.

Hamden

Hamden Middle School and the Hamden Collaborative Learning Center will be closed Monday due to staffing shortages.

Stonington

In Stonington, the uptick in cases has caused a "significant shortage of transportation drivers, staff, classroom teachers and substitute teachers," the school district said in a statement to parents.

Because of this, school for students is canceled both Monday, Jan. 3 and Tuesday, Jan. 4. The cancellation applies to all K-12 students.

In the note to parents, school officials said they are unable to transport students, safely staff their classrooms and maintain social distancing.

"Our administrative team has worked diligently throughout the winter break in an effort to prepare for our return to school tomorrow. However, at this point in time it is not safely feasible for us to open our schools tomorrow and Tuesday," the school district said in the statement.

Tuesday will be a professional development day in lieu of the March 9, 2022 professional development day for Stonington staff. March 9 will now be a regular instructional day for all students.

Stratford

In Stratford, all schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday, partially as a convenience for students and staff amid high demand for COVID-19 tests.

The demand for COVID-19 tests in Connecticut is continuing in the new year.

"This will position us to allow impacted staff members and students to receive current test results and potentially complete their quarantine for a safer return," a notice on the school district's website said.

School officials said they'll treat Monday and Tuesday as "inclement weather days."

Region 14

All Region 14 schools will be closed Monday because of a rising number of staff who will be out because of COVID-19.

In a statement, school officials said they've been monitoring the situation closely and decided to close for the health and safety of everyone.

Administrators will still work Monday to plan for a safe reopening Tuesday, the school district said.

DELAYS:

Region 5

The Amity Regional School District announced that they're opening on a two-hour delay Monday.

Only students can come in late and staff is still expected to come in at their regularly scheduled start time.

The decision was made to allow school staff time to fully review new guidelines and assess staffing levels to plan for needed substitute coverage.

The school district said they plan to return to normal operations after Monday's delayed opening.

New Fairfield

All students will have a two-hour delay at New Fairfield public schools on Monday.

This is done to allow time to assess staffing and ensure the school district has a safe and orderly return to school, school officials said in a notice posted online.

All staff are still expected to report at their regularly scheduled time.
